What is space?

Yesterday and today we have been talking a lot about space.Yesterday we started making arrangements of different objects then drew them on our paper and then we have to colour in the negative space. We have been talking about the 2 different types of space that we use through out art which are positive and negative space. Positive space is the space that is being used or being taken up. Negative space is the space around the object(s) that isn't being taken up or used. Space can be 2- dimensional and 3-dimensional.
