What is value in ART? Feb.27th 2014
Value is imporatnt in art because it shows us the texture of that object. If nothing had value everything would be darkness. The shadows in the object define its quality.
Value relates to texture because if there was no value then objects wouldn't have any texture. Texture is what defines that object by the values it gives off.
The 5 different ways of drawing value are shading, scribble hatching, cross hatching, dotting, and shadowing.
Building value means that we increase or decrease the amount of light that is projected off of the object.
We best see value by squinting to see the change in lightness and darkness and to see the different textures.
